Are you one of 7 people we’re looking for to join equip! and help at Northern Bay College in Term 1? The timelines are tight… please consider!

Use your life experience to help a young person from a culturally and linguistically diverse background in Year 10 and Year 11 to look at their career options and learn about the process of applying for jobs.

Equip! is trialling a short new program, starting immediately.   Volunteers will be matched with a young person and will work in the school with a group of other mentors, students, a school facilitator and equip! staff member.

Training in cultural awareness and mentoring is available.

You will need to be available most Tuesdays from February 6th – March 30th (ie first term) from 1.15 – 3.45pm, with possible extension to end of April.

General Background:

Young people from a refugee background are 3 times less likely to find employment compared with those born in Australia.   Equip! youth mentors have been supporting these young people for nearly two years. Drawing on this experience,  a new partnership between Diversitat and the school aims to help young people in Years 10 and 11 with planning relevant to their individual skills and interests.
