COVID-19 Vaccination Transport Service
Free community transport for attending COVID-19 vaccinations
Anyone needing help to access a COVID-19 vaccination appointment in the Geelong and Colac regions is welcome to use the Volunteering Geelong community transport service.
The service is available for people wishing to travel to the Barwon Health Vaccination Hub at the former Ford factory in North Geelong or those wanting to attend a COVID vaccination appointment with a local GP.
Volunteering Geelong has access to 10 priority bookings from Monday to Friday each week at the Barwon Health hub:
- five bookings at 10.30am and
- five bookings at 1.30pm
Alternatively, we can provide transport to a GP clinic of choice. For logistics reasons, we prefer to have a designated geographical area going to the same clinic and a minimum of three to four people travelling on the bus.
To make your booking
- Step 1 - phone Volunteering Geelong during business hours on 5221 1377. Inform them whether the patient is attending a GP clinic or the Ford Vaccination Hub and provide contact details and the patient's Medicare card details.
- Step 2 - All calls are triaged and the bus is then booked for a day and time to pick up five people in the one geographical area This may be a two to three day turnaround.
- Step 3 - If attending the Ford vaccination hub, Volunteering Geelong will advise the hub of the details of patients who are coming along including their Medicare card number. If attending a GP Clinic, details with the clinic will be confirmed in advance.
With thanks to the City of Greater Geelong and Barwon Health for supporting this important service.
