This workshop will introduce the National Standards for Volunteer Involvement - launched by Volunteering Australia in the 2015.
The National Standards for Volunteer Involvement are Australia's best practice road map for volunteering. This workshop provides an introduction to the National Standards, how they can assist with the management of volunteer programs and the initial steps for introducing the Standards into an organisation. Participants will be guided through an overview of using the Standards self-audit tools.
At the end of the workshop participants will be able to:
- Explain the general intent of the Standards and how they can support best practice in volunteer program management.
- Become familiar with National Standards Auditing tools.
- Outline the initial steps to take to implement the Standards in an organisation.
- Describe resources that are available to support the implementation of the Standards and any new developments with regard to the Quality Mark system.
The session is targeted to Volunteer Managers and Coordinators who are new to the volunteering sector, and/or experienced leaders of volunteers who wish to update their knowledge about the new Standards. This session also provides a pathway to the Advanced Training.
