Active Walk Volunteers Needed – Geelong & Bellarine
Active Geelong aims to inspire community participation in a growing number of accessible and enjoyable physical activity opportunities
Active Geelong works with workplaces, local health professionals and the broader community to increase physical activity in the Geelong region through innovative ways that will increase access, provide new opportunities and support activities that promote physical activity.
The key aims of Active Walking Program are:
– To provide opportunities for people with chronic health issues to get active
in a safe and supported way
– To enhance social connection through walking with others and sharing a cuppa
at a café after the walk
– To improve health outcomes for members of the community in the Bellarine
Volunteers will provide a friendly and professional welcome to registered walkers including introducing new members. Multiple volunteers are required for each walk, allowing participants to walk at their own pace. Volunteers will then have the opportunity to have a cuppa with the group after the walk, encouraging people to feel comfortable and connected.
Currently we need volunteers for walks at Eastern Beach, Corio, Ocean Grove and Pt Lonsdale (currently on hold due to a shortage of volunteers)
Get involved and get active.
