Volunteer Opportunity – Patient Transport Drivers (Barwon Health)

Barwon Health is expanding their Volunteer Driver Program to support more patients across the Greater Geelong region in attending their vital clinical appointments. This service makes a genuine difference in the lives of our community’s most vulnerable, ensuring they can access the care they need.

They’re are looking for compassionate and reliable Volunteer Drivers to join our team and provide transport to:

• University Hospital Geelong

• Barwon Health North

• Barwon Health McKellar Centre

Please note, they are currently looking for Volunteers who have any availability on/across Monday , Tuesday and Wednesday! 

What you’ll be doing:

• Driving patients safely to and from appointments using Barwon Health fleet vehicles.

• Providing a friendly, supportive presence to help patients feel at ease.

• Following infection prevention and safety protocols to protect yourself and patients.

• Working closely with Patient Transport Coordinators and clinicians who will support and guide you.

What they’re looking for:

• Safe and responsible drivers with a current driver’s licence.

• A friendly and caring approach, with patience and understanding.

• Reliability and flexibility – start/finish times may vary depending on appointments (generally between 8am–4pm, Monday–Friday).

• Willingness to follow infection control measures, including wearing a surgical mask and keeping up to date with vaccinations (minimum 3 COVID-19 and current flu).

Requirements:

• Current driver’s licence (standard car licence is fine).

• Minimum 3 COVID-19 vaccinations and current influenza vaccination.

• Willingness to undergo onboarding, training, and safety checks.
